FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

10 May 2022—Ajax Public Library and the Region of Durham are pleased to announce that an
Outreach Worker will provide connections to community and social services at Main Branch.
Beginning May 17, 2022, the Outreach Worker will be available on Tuesdays from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00
p.m. at Main Branch, with no appointment necessary. Assistance connecting with a variety of social
services will be available, including financial resources, housing, food security, Children’s Services
referrals, and more. The Outreach Worker will be available to communicate with community agencies
on behalf of residents, assist with completing government forms, and can help navigate services and
supports.

During extreme temperatures, the Library provides temporary cooling and overnight warming centres
at Main Branch. Use of these centres demonstrated the need for additional supports in Ajax. Adding
partnerships with the Region of Durham for those experiencing housing or food insecurity is an
extension of the Library’s dedication to creating a resilient community.
More information about Library programs and services can be found on the Library’s website at
www.ajaxlibrary.ca or by contacting Main Branch at 905-683-4000 ext. 8813. For updates, be sure to
follow the Library on Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram.
